PW Registry allows registrations at the third level only (e.g. abc.def.pw). Second level domains, e.g. "def.pw" are called "Community Domains" and are not available for registration.

PW Registry offers a trademark protection service called Defensive Sponsorship. There are two levels of Defensive Sponsorships:

1. A Standard Defensive Sponsorship blocks the registration of third level domain names and PW email forwarding addresses for the specified domain. The second level Community domain will still function as a PW Community domain for public use.
2. A Premium Defensive Sponsorship will block the registration of third level domain names and PW email forwarding addresses for the specified domain. It will also replace the PW Community domain with a non-interactive parking page for the domain.

PW Defensive Sponsorships are open to anyone with a registered or common law trademark. No proof of trademark rights needs to be supplied. Defensive Sponsorships may be converted to an active PW Community at any time.
